CANCELLATION POLICY
Under the terms of our membership of the Cumbria Tourist Board, we are required to inform you of our CANCELLATION POLICY. We respectfully advise you that a reservation constitutes a contract. In the unfortunate circumstances of a cancellation, the full rate for the period booked becomes chargeable unless the room is subsequently re-let. We will use our best endeavours to re-let the room using our prominent roadside sign, the local Tourist Information Centres and the internet. Should you require to insure your holiday, as you would a foreign holiday, a scheme has been set up by the Cumbria Tourist Board and details can be forwarded upon request.
STATUTORY ACCESS STATEMENT
PRE ARRIVAL
This is a three bedroomed Guest House with all bedrooms on the first floor. There is no Guest Lounge.
We have no public telephone or telephone in the guest rooms but in emergency, our own service is available for guest use.
Public Transport to Ambleside is limited to a number of service buses from Keswick, Kendal and Windermere including National Express which stop in the centre of the village approx 1/2 mile from Freshfields. The nearest Railway Station is at Windermere where there are Taxis and the Bus Station. Taxis are also available in Ambleside. There are several Stagecoach bus routes into various parts of the Lake District but the services are limited. The Mountain Goat Coach Company also offers private excursions.
Shops, pubs, restaurants, cinema and the library which has internet access are a 1/2 mile from Freshfields.
Due to the age and design of the building coupled with the style of business, it is impractical to provide wheelchair access but facilities have been provided for those with visual and hearing impairment.
Porterage is available to a weight of 15kg's.
We have a "no dogs" policy but guide dogs are accepted with the owners providing all their requirements including dog bedding.
All door locks are of the "Yale" variety and must never be deadlocked.
UPON ARRIVAL
The car park is level and on prior notice, the car parking bay immediately at the front door can be reserved as we only have three parking areas for the three rooms let.
There is security lighting to the car parking area.
There is one step at the front door and the distance across the open Dining Hall to the staircase is 21 feet, the first flight of stairs consists of 7 steps with a raise of 7in to a quarter landing, the next flight is 5 steps of the same rise to another quarter landing and finally 5 steps of the same rise to the first floor level. There are sturdy handrails either side and overhead illumination.
BEDROOMS
A dual-purpose smoke alarm system is installed and heat detectors on the ground floor and first floor landing.
All bedrooms have smoke detectors and Buttermere has an audio-visual alarm for those with a hearing or visual disability. Upon prior request, we will do our best, to make this room available in appropriate circumstances.
An emergency night-time bell is fixed on the landing to attract our attention.
We provide manmade hypo-allergic pillows and duvets along with cotton sheets.
All showers have a safety mat and one fixed handrail. A mobile shower seat is available upon request.
The W.C. seat is at a height of 17in.
Our beds are 4ft 6in double beds with firm mattresses and a soft mattress topper.
There are mini fridges in each room and a freestanding kettle.
Two rooms have low, nursing style chairs and Ullswater Room has two upright armchairs.
All bedrooms have fitted carpets including the bathrooms.
Obviously we comply with the Nations No Smoking policy which extends to the Porch and Gardens.
De-caffeinated tea and coffee, ground and granules, are both available.
Room service is not available.
